Aryan Maan, the newly elected president of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU), is over the moon after a big win in the high-stakes student elections. On Friday, he thanked every student at Delhi University for helping his team, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), secure three out of four key posts. This victory gives ABVP a strong 3-1 edge over the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), backed by Congress.

The AISA-SFI candidate from the Left, Anjali, came third with 5,385 votes. “I feel amazing! This dream I’ve chased for five years has finally come true,” Maan told . “Thanks to every Delhi University student for this huge margin. We’ve shown NSUI what we’re made of with this 3-1 win.”
Safety is top on Maan’s agenda. He promised to light up the dark corners of the DU campus, especially for female students. “There are too many unsafe spots for girls—we’ll install lights there right away,” the ABVP leader said.
ABVP’s Kunal Chaudhary also triumphed in the secretary race, winning with 23,779 votes. He edged out AISA-SFI’s Abhinandana (9,535 votes) and NSUI’s Kabir (9,525 votes). “I’m thrilled! A big thank you to all DU students for your support,” Chaudhary said. “I promise to stand by you whenever you need me.”
NSUI didn’t go home empty-handed. Rahul Jhansla won the vice president post with an impressive 29,339 votes, defeating ABVP’s Govind Tanwa (20,547 votes) and AISA-SFI’s Sohan (4,163 votes). “My team worked tirelessly, and I dedicate this win to them,” Jhansla told . “Thanks to everyone who backed me in this tough fight. Congrats to all candidates—win or lose, life goes on.”
For joint secretary, ABVP’s Deepika Jha sealed the deal with 21,825 votes, beating NSUI’s Lav Kush Badhana (17,380 votes) and AISA-SFI’s Abhishek (8,425 votes).
NSUI national president Varun Choudhary hailed his team’s hard work but pointed fingers at bigger challenges. He claimed they fought not just ABVP, but a “combined force” including the Delhi University administration, Delhi government, central government, RSS-BJP, and Delhi Police.
These DUSU election results highlight the fierce student politics at one of India’s top universities, with ABVP dominating and NSUI holding strong in one spot. Students are already buzzing about what changes these new leaders will bring to campus life.
