Political Storm Over India-Pakistan Asia Cup Match in Bihar and Beyond
Tejashwi Yadav, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and a key RJD leader, has fired sharp criticism at the BJP-led central government over the ongoing India-Pakistan cricket clash in the Asia Cup 2025. Speaking from Patna, Yadav questioned why the match is happening at all, especially after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tough talk on Pakistan following Operation Sindoor.
Yadav took a dig at Modi’s famous line about "sindoor running in his veins," saying, "The Prime Minister himself should answer why this India-Pakistan match is on. People who claim sindoor flows in their blood are the ones organizing it. Everyone knows Pakistan is the BJP’s partner!" He added a sarcastic twist: "Sometimes sindoor runs in their veins for convenience, sometimes there’s a ceasefire, and now an India vs Pakistan cricket match. Even blood and water ties get cut off when it suits them. The PM needs to explain this flip-flop."
This isn’t the only backlash. Earlier today, NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader Jayant Patil slammed the central government too, calling out their inconsistent stance on Pakistan. "Just two months ago, BJP leaders said blood and water can’t flow together with Pakistan. Now, they’re all set for cricket against them. Their colors change every month, and that’s why India’s foreign policy keeps failing. The world has seen it," Patil told reporters.
On the other side, Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya defended the decision, stressing that the Indian cricket team follows international rules. "We don’t happily play against Pakistan, but for global tournaments like the Asia Cup, we have no choice. It’s about sticking to the commitments," Maurya said.
Meanwhile, the high-stakes India vs Pakistan match is heating up at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first, with both teams riding high after strong wins in their opening games. Cricket fans are glued to the action as this Asia Cup 2025 showdown unfolds amid all the political buzz.
