Bhopal, Nov 11 – Governor Mangubhai Patel of Madhya Pradesh stopped by the Bhagwan Birsa Munda Tribal University in Rajpipla, Gujarat’s Narmada district, on Tuesday to show support for tribal education and culture.
The governor was welcomed with a traditional ceremony and planted a sapling as part of the national “Ek Ped – Maa Ke Naam” tree‑planting drive. He paused to lay flowers at the statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, bowing respectfully in front of the sacred monument. Patel was joined by local MLA Darshana Ben Vasava.
During the visit, Patel walked the campus, inspected the student hostel and chatted with university officials about future development plans. He praised the university for embodying Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to preserve and promote tribal culture across India.
Vice‑chancellor Madhukar Padvi briefed the governor on the university’s mission to keep tribal arts, heritage, traditional medicine, language and literature alive. Padvi explained that the school aims to weave tribal knowledge into mainstream learning, creating a new social renaissance. He outlined upcoming programs – ranging from undergraduate courses to Ph.D. studies – in humanities, commerce, science, law, education, tribal arts and crafts, and skill‑based training.
Founded in 2017, Bhagwan Birsa Munda Tribal University focuses on innovative research and education for Gujarat’s tribal communities and other developing regions. It teaches technology, vocational skills, tourism, tribal culture and forest‑based livelihoods, while its research labs push forward knowledge of tribal traditions, languages, medicines and forest economies.
The governor’s visit highlighted the university’s role in regional development and the broader goal of integrating tribal heritage into India’s growing educational landscape.
