Telangana CM Revanth Reddy to meet priests, unveil Medaram development plan designs

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has exciting plans ahead. On September 23, he’ll head to the famous Medaram temple in Telangana for a key visit. There, he’ll meet with priests from the Sammakka Saralamma temple to lock in designs for the Medaram Development Plan.

During a recent review on Saturday, Reddy made it clear: he’ll release the official designs only after getting the green light from the local priests. He directed officials to set up a technical committee to oversee the entire Medaram development project. The state government stands ready to expand the temple grounds if the priests request it, showing strong support for their input.

Reddy stressed the importance of keeping things authentic. The Ammavari Gaddelu—those sacred platforms—will stay true to their original form, helping preserve local traditions through the whole development. He also called for a welcome arch that honors the area’s rich tribal heritage. To top it off, officials must plant traditional saplings around the temple to blend nature with progress.

Joining Reddy on the trip will be ministers, tribal MPs, MLCs, MLAs, and key officials, making it a big team effort.

Shifting gears, Reddy shared big news on Friday about transforming Hyderabad into a cutting-edge hub. The state government is launching Bharat Future City, aiming to create one of India’s most advanced urban centers that rivals global standards.

This project kicks off on 30,000 acres in its first phase and features nine specialized zones, like AI City, Health Zone, and Education Zone. It’s all part of the ambitious Telangana Rising 2047 vision.

Reddy laid out bold economic targets: He wants Telangana to hit a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and grow to $3 trillion by 2047. To make it happen, the plan zones the entire state smartly. Inside Hyderabad’s Outer Ring Road (about 160 km) becomes the Core Urban area. Between the ORR and the new Regional Ring Road (360 km) turns into a semi-urban Manufacturing zone. Everything outside the RRR focuses on boosting the rural economy.

In a lively discussion with panel moderators and an audience of public affairs pros from top global and Indian companies, Reddy tackled tough questions. He highlighted how future cities must tackle water shortages and climate challenges head-on.

“We’re building an Urban Water Grid by rejuvenating the River Musi, restoring lakes, and cleaning up nallahs,” Reddy said. He added that only cities fighting climate risks—like droughts and urban flooding—will thrive. Hyderabad aims to become India’s first city to fully mitigate these threats.

Reddy envisions Hyderabad as a global knowledge hub. He’s reaching out to top universities worldwide to set up offshore campuses in Telangana. This will fuel education and skills training through initiatives like Young India Skills University, YI Sports University, and YI Integrated Residential Schools.
