Raiza Dhillon sweeps women’s skeet titles on opening day of 68th National Shooting Championship finals

New Delhi, Dec 13 – Olympian Raiza Dhillon lit up the shotgun arena this Saturday, grabbing gold in both the Women’s and Junior Women’s Skeet events at the 68th National Shooting Championship Competitions held at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in Tughlaqabad, just outside Delhi.
In the Women’s Skeet final, Raiza hit 56 targets to win the title, edging out Yashasvi Rathore, who shot 55 and took silver. Olympic teammate Ganemat Shekhon finished third with 45, while Darshna Rathore (36), Risham Kaur Guron (27) and Vanshika Tiwari (18) placed fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
During the qualification round, Yashasvi led the pack with 118 hits. Raiza and Ganemat both scored 116; Raiza secured second place after a shoot‑off (+5), with Ganemat coming third (+4). Darshna followed with 115, and Risham and Vanshika each hit 114, their final positions decided through shoot‑offs.
The Women’s Skeet Team contest saw Rajasthan take gold, with Yashasvi Rathore, Darshna Rathore and Olympian Maheshwari Chauhan combining for 343 hits. Madhya Pradesh finished second (Vanshika Tiwari, Mansi Raghuwanshi – 111 hits, and Oshmi Shrivas – 103 hits) with 328, while Punjab (Ganemat Shekhon, Parinaaz Dhaliwal – 105 hits, and Asees Chhina – 104 hits) earned bronze at 325.
In the Junior Women’s Skeet final, Raiza continued her streak, shooting 55 to claim gold. Vanshika Tiwari secured silver with 54, and Mansi Raghuwanshi took bronze after a 45‑hit round. Yashasvi, the qualification leader, finished fourth with 34, followed by Risham Kaur Guron (22) and Sanyogita Shekhawat (14).
For the Junior Women’s Team Skeet event, Madhya Pradesh topped the leaderboard with 328 (Vanshika Tiwari, Mansi Raghuwanshi and Oshmi Shrivas – 103 hits each). Rajasthan earned silver at 326 (Yashasvi Rathore, Sanyogita Shekhawat – 110 hits, Kamna Udawat – 98 hits), and Punjab claimed bronze with 314 (Risham Kaur Guron, Parmeet Kaur – 108 hits, Sifat Chhina – 92 hits).
The 68th NSCC will continue in the coming days, with the women’s and junior women’s 25 m sports pistol finals next in line, as India’s premier shooters chase further national glory.
