Lucknow, Dec 1 (LatestNewsX) – The Khadi Mahotsav in Uttar Punjab, titled “Dhage se Dharohar Tak”, marked a significant achievement as the ten‑day festival drew an unprecedented level of commerce and swarmed crowds, crafting a fresh chapter of success for the state.
Held in Gomtinagar from 21–30 November, the festival attracted enthusiastic crowds, especially a large number of young people eager to explore the diverse range of Khadi items on offer.
The 2025 edition, staged at the Central Sanskrit University, shattered previous sales records with total revenue hitting ₹3.20 crore, a jump of roughly 42 percent over last year’s ₹2.25 crore.
Footfall peaked on the final day, with shoppers making major purchases well into the evening. Khadi apparel, herbal wares, jute crafts and terracotta goods stood out as the most popular choices.
A total of 160 business owners showcased their work: 32 from Khadi institutions, 120 from village enterprises, and 8 from the pottery field. Craftsmen from Lucknow, Muzaffarnagar, Barabanki, Gorakhpur and surrounding districts noted that while the crowd size grew, buyers showed a keen interest in contemporary Khadi designs.
Prominent entrepreneurs—Prem Kumar of Swarajya Ashram, Satendra Kumar of Gram Seva Sansthan, Abbas Ansari of Muzaffarnagar, Anjali Singh of Jute Artisans, Premchandra from Barabanki, and Prof. Nitin Singh of Royal Honey—highlighted the strong presence of young purchasers, a factor that injected new energy into the market.
Throughout the event, active participation from youths, students, and women remained constant. Attendees praised the convenience of discovering a wide spectrum of Khadi, local crafts, and natural products all under one roof.
During the closing ceremony, Board CEO Shishir expressed gratitude to the entrepreneurs and organizing crew, affirming that Khadi is no longer merely a clothing choice—it has become a living symbol of cultural heritage embraced by modern consumers.
