MTA bus crashes into multiple cars, injuring 7 in wild NYC scene that ‘looked like a movie’
An overcrowded MTA bus in the Bronx crashed into a string of vehicles on Monday afternoon, leaving at least seven people hurt and the on‑board passengers in a whirl of panic.
Video that The Post captured shows the BX6 bus barreling westward on East 163rd Street around 2 p.m. before it struck several cars. Inside the moving bus, one passenger shouted, “What the f—k,” while another cried, “Open the freaking door!” as the chaos unfolded.
When the bus started to brake, two riders can be seen leaping out a window in a desperate bid to escape.
Police report that the 63‑year‑old driver and six adult passengers suffered minor injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals.
Pictures from after the collision reveal the bus’s shattered windshield and broken glass doors, with a number of damaged vehicles strewn across the street—including a completely crushed blue car whose airbags were fully deployed.
Witness Wilson Albert told The Post the driver drove through six to seven cars, trying to “keep going” before an unmarked police car finally forced a stop. “The impact was loud—bam, bam, bam. Every car she hit made noise,” he said. “It looked like a movie. I thought they were shooting a movie,” he added.
Another observer, Mike, saw an ambulance stretcher being positioned after he hurried outside to investigate a booming sound. “I seen the car on the sidewalk and I seen him putting the guy on the stretcher. I said, damn, I thought he caught a stroke or something behind the wheel, so that wasn’t what it was,” he recounted. “He was obviously injured, injured bad,” he said.
The MTA confirmed the incident and removed the bus from service. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is still underway.
