National Guard member critically wounded in suspected terror attack in Washington DC unlikely to survive, dad says
In Washington, DC, a National Guardswoman was shot by a suspected terrorist, and her dad says the injuries are likely fatal.
“She has a mortal wound. It’s not going to be a recovery,” Gary Beckstrom told the New York Times. “I’m holding her hand right now,” he added.
He stayed quiet after that.
According to his 20‑year‑old daughter’s shooting, it happened near the White House at about 2 p.m. Wednesday when Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, allegedly fired on her and another Guardsman.
The other guard, Andrew Wolfe, was also seriously injured in the same incident.
