Rob Reiner, wife Michelle had throats slit by family member during heated argument: report

According to a report published Monday, Hollywood filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife were discovered dead with their throats slashed, with their daughter allegedly telling police that a “dangerous” family member should be considered a suspect.

The report claims that Reiner, 78, and his wife of 36 years, Michele Singer Reiner, were found Sunday afternoon inside their Brentwood home by their daughter, Romy. She reportedly told responding officers that another relative could be responsible, TMZ said.

Sources cited by the outlet said Romy described the family member as “dangerous” and suggested the comment was made during an intense exchange with investigators.

The “A Few Good Men” director and his 68-year-old wife were both said to have suffered fatal wounds to their throats. Additional sources told The Post that the injuries included multiple stab wounds across their bodies.

Investigators are reportedly looking at the couple’s 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, as a person of interest. Sources previously told The Post that a knife was believed to have been used in the attack.

Authorities said the couple was found dead Sunday afternoon, but no arrests have been made so far.

LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton told reporters during a tense press briefing that detectives were actively questioning family members as part of the investigation.

“We’re going to try to speak to every family member that we can to get to the facts of this investigation,” Hamilton said.

Officials initially declined to publicly identify the victims, though the family later released a statement confirming the deaths.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time,” the family said.

A neighbor told The Post that comedian Billy Crystal, a longtime friend of Reiner, was seen arriving at the home Sunday night after the news spread. ABC 7 also reported that Larry David was spotted at the residence.

Reiner married photographer Michele Singer in 1989. They shared three children — sons Jake and Nick, and daughter Romy. He also has an adopted daughter, Tracy Reiner, from his previous marriage to the late Penny Marshall.

Over his decades-long career, Reiner directed several iconic films, including “The Princess Bride,” “Stand By Me,” “This Is Spinal Tap,” “Misery,” and “A Few Good Men.” He met Michele while working on “When Harry Met Sally.”

Before becoming a celebrated director, Reiner gained fame as Mike “Meathead” Stivic on the CBS sitcom “All in the Family,” earning two Emmy Awards.

Nick Reiner has previously spoken publicly about his struggles with drug addiction and homelessness, experiences that inspired the semi-autobiographical 2015 film “Being Charlie,” which he co-wrote with his father.

“I was homeless in Maine. I was homeless in New Jersey. I was homeless in Texas. I spent nights on the street. I spent weeks on the street. It was not fun,” Nick Reiner told People in a 2016 interview.
