Hyderabad—Vice‑President C.P. Radhakrishnan praised media pioneer Ramoji Rao for building India’s media landscape on truth and integrity. He spoke to a packed crowd during the first Ramoji Excellence Awards 2025 at Ramoji Film City, a landmark that Ramoji Rao created in his hometown of Hyderabad.
The awards celebrated seven leaders for their impact in areas such as rural development, youth, science, service to mankind, art, journalism and women’s achievements. Winners included Amla Ashok Ruia, Srikant Bolla, Madhavi Latha Gali, Akash Tandon, Sathupati Prasanna Sree, Jaideep Hardikar, and Pallabi Ghosh.
The event drew high‑profile guests: Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, former Vice‑President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Telanagen Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Andhra Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Union Defence‑sector ministers, former Chief Justice N. V. Ramana and Ramoji Group chairman Kiron, along with film stars.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said the Telangana government will keep supporting Ramoji Rao’s legacy in journalism and in promoting the world‑famous Ramoji Film City. He called the film city Hyderabad’s “fourth wonder,” noting its full‑scale production facilities that let filmmakers bring a script to a finished movie ready for screening.
“Ramoji Rao was a true visionary,” said Naidu, who worked with the media magnate for 40 years. “He fought corruption with his pen, stood up for the Telugu language and never asked for a favor. He was the only person willing to speak truth to power, whether in opposition or when no opposition existed.”
The awards honored Ramoji Rao’s lifelong commitment to ethical journalism and to inspiring future generations. The event highlighted the continuing influence of his work on Indian media and culture.
