At the Mysuru airport on Monday, Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told reporters that he sees a clear anti‑incumbency wave in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. He said the BJP’s “corrupt” and “misgoverned” record will push voters toward the opposition Grand Alliance, which he believes will win.
Siddaramaiah added that if invited, he would travel to Bihar to campaign for the Grand Alliance. He praised Karnataka’s guarantee schemes, noting that 1.24 crore women receive Rs 2,000 a month under the Gruha Lakshmi program and that the state has spent over Rs 1 lakh crore on such social guarantees.
He criticised Bihar’s current chief minister, Nitish Kumar, for forming alliances without ideological ties and for failing to lift poverty. “The poor, backward classes, Dalits and minorities are more likely to back the Congress,” he said.
When asked if he would already be on his way to Bihar, Siddaramaiah replied he would go “if invited.” He stressed that anti‑incumbency and BJP corruption are the key reasons the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will lose.
Siddaramaiah also pointed out a recent Bihari promise of a one‑time Rs 10,000 to women, contrasting it with Karnataka’s monthly Rs 2,000 support. He highlighted the state’s long‑standing leadership style, noting that Nitish Kumar has been chief minister for many years but shows little ideological commitment.
During the briefing, Siddaramaiah talked about the Karnataka Rajyotsava awards, stating that this year’s recipients were chosen from every district to honor self‑less service, keeping social justice and regional equality in mind.
