PM Modi interacts with MAHSR team in Surat, hails their role in India’s 1st bullet train project

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the under‑construction bullet‑train station in Surat, Gujarat, on Saturday to see how the Mumbai‑Ahmedabad High‑Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR) is coming together.

The MAHSR is India’s first bullet‑train line, stretching about 508 km from Mumbai to Ahmedabad and passing key cities such as Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vadodara, Surat and Bharuch. It promises to cut travel time dramatically and boost the country’s transportation network.

Modi walked the site with engineers, technical staff and workers. He asked them straight‑forward questions: “Are we on track? Or is progress falling behind?” Everyone answered in one voice, “We’re moving fast and we’re proud to be part of this project.”

A young woman from Kerala, who runs the robotics‑led noise‑control team, told Modi how she feels lucky to work on India’s first bullet train. Another worker, a woman, spoke about the pride she and her family feel, and how excited she is when the train finally runs.

The PM praised the team as “pioneers” of India’s high‑speed rail future, saying their work will be remembered for generations. He encouraged them to keep energy high and to document every lesson along the way. He suggested creating a “blue book” that records best practices and innovations to guide future trains.

When the workers thanked Modi, one added that he doesn’t want personal accolades; he wants the country to move forward, saying the bullet train is part of India’s identity and a shared victory.

The MAHSR is a flagship infrastructure project that showcases India’s growing capability in high‑speed rail. With Modi’s visit, the momentum continues, promising a faster, more connected future for the nation.
