England’s new manager Thomas Tuchel told reporters that he is ready to reconnect with players who were left out of recent qualifiers. He said the 55‑plus‑man pool will no longer feel “abandoned” and that every player can earn a place in the squad that will head to the World Cup next summer.
The decision follows England’s two‑game run‑away from the Czech Republic. The national side beat Serbia 2‑0 on home turf and then matched the score when they visited Albania, making the campaign flawless – eight wins, no goals conceded – and securing top spot in Group K.
Key names such as Real Madrid centre‑back Trent Alexander‑Arnold and Everton midfielder Jack Grealish were omitted from the squad for those fixtures, while Citizens star Jude Bellingham missed the October matches against Wales and Latvia.
Tuchel emphasized his role in “making contact with everyone” and explaining why some were left out. He wants to show players what they need to improve and let them know whether a change can earn them back the coach’s trust. “This is my job for the next weeks and months,” the German coach said.
The manager also announced that he will visit club training grounds. “If there’s a need we can do group visits. We can see Jude, we can see Trent, we can go to the clubs and some of them we’ll call,” he added.
England has a final training camp penciled in the March international window as Tuchel finalises the Olympic‑size squad for the World Cup that will run from June 11 to July 19 across Canada, Mexico and the United States.
