A powerful blast near New Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening shocked the city and prompted an immediate response from authorities across the region.
After the explosion, which caused several civilian injuries and loss of life, the police in Madhya Pradesh declared a high alert state‑wide. Inspector General of Police Ashish (Intelligence) ordered all district police chiefs to heighten vigilance and boost surveillance in public hubs, including bus terminals and railway stations.
Special instructions were also sent to officers in the nine districts that share borders with neighbouring states. They are to intensify patrols and conduct thorough vehicle checks at key entry points to prevent further incidents.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav called the blast “disturbing” and “heartbreaking.” He posted on X: “The news of civilian casualties in the car explosion near Red Fort Metro Station is extremely heartbreaking. I offer my condolences to the families of the deceased and pray for the quick recovery of the wounded.”
Support messages poured in from across the political spectrum. Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath said, “The car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station is deeply tragic. The loss of lives is heart‑wrenching. May God grant peace to the departed and a swift recovery to the injured.”
Opposition leader Umang Singhar also expressed his sorrow, calling the incident “extremely tragic” and wishing a speedy recovery for those injured.
The incident sparked panic in the national capital and prompted authorities in Delhi‑NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and Mumbai to issue high alerts. The investigation into the cause of the blast is ongoing.
