Kochi, Nov 22 – The Kerala senior men’s cricket squad will be led by India’s white‑ball star Sanju Samson in the BCCI’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for the 2025/26 season. The competition, held in Lucknow from 26 November to 8 December 2025, will feature the Elite Group‑A, League Stage match‑ups.
In a press out‑take, the Kerala Cricket Association confirmed that Samson will take the captain’s armband. The team is slated to depart from Indore on 22 November for the tournament venue.
Samson, who recently moved to the Chennai Super Kings from the Rajasthan Royals in a blockbuster trade that sent Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran to Rajasthan, has been in good form following India’s victorious Asia Cup T20 campaign in the UAE. He will be looking to keep that momentum ahead of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which India and Sri Lanka will host together.
Other key names in the lineup include former Mumbai Indians player Vignesh Puthur, as well as Mohammed Azharuddeen M and Rohan S Kunnummal. Former India batter Amay Khurasiya will provide coaching support.
