Bengaluru, Nov 24 – The buzz for the World Tennis League (WTL) is building nationwide as the tournament arrives in the city from December 17‑20. The event, set to unfold over four days at the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium, has revealed its franchise owners and player rosters, blending global stars with India’s top competitors under fresh, energetic leadership.
This year’s WTL will feature 16 athletes spread across four teams, all vying for the championship. Spectators can expect thrilling, high‑intensity matches from some of the sport’s finest, guided by seasoned coaches.
The defending champions reign in this edition: the Game Changers Falcons, owned by Amandeep Singh and Game Changers FZCO; the VB Realty Hawks, led by Vashu Bhagnani; Aussie Mavericks Kites, under the stewardship of Dr. Umed Shekhawat, Amit Sahni, and Kewal Kalra; and the AOS Eagles, managed by AOS Sports Tournament in Dubai with Satender Pal Chhabra at the helm.
Amandeep Singh, captain of the Falcons, expressed enthusiasm: “We’re back to defend our title with a line‑up that truly balances power and experience. Medvedev’s court prowess, Bopanna’s doubles mastery, and the versatility of Magda and Sahaja set the stage for an exciting season.”
VB Realty Hawks’ owner Vashu Bhagnani highlighted the team’s grit: “We’ve assembled a squad that thrives under pressure, reflecting the Hawks’ competitive spirit. Shapovalov’s fiery play, complemented by Bhambri’s steadiness and the resilience of Svitolina and Maaya, makes us ready to leave a lasting mark in our first WTL campaign.”
“Aussie Mavericks Kites bring a high‑impact, winning edge,” said Dr. Umed Shekhawat. “With Kyrgios’s explosive serve, Kostyuk’s aggression, and strong representation from Dhakshineshwar and Ankita, we’re set to deliver a fearless, ambitious performance at WTL’s India debut.”
Satender Pal Chhabra, head of the AOS Eagles, added: “Our team’s DNA is a blend of experience, hunger, and versatility. Monfils’ charisma, Nagal’s drive, and the balanced depth of Paula and Shrivalli fuel a lineup ready to dominate the league.”
