Viksit UP: Agriculture, education emerge as lead focus areas

Lucknow, Oct 10 – Uttar Pradesh’s flagship “Samarth Uttar Pradesh – Viksit Uttar Pradesh @2047” campaign is gathering speed, with the state aiming to become fully developed by 2047.

The campaign, which runs in all 75 districts, has turned local offices into one‑stop hubs for ideas. Nodal officers and key community leaders are meeting students, teachers, farmers, entrepreneurs, business heads, labour unions, media people and ordinary residents to chat about the future roadmap and collect feedback.

3.5 Million ideas so far

Since it launched, the plan has drawn in more than 3.5 million responses. Rural districts led the way, contributing about 2.8 million suggestions, while urban areas sent in roughly 750 000. Youths form almost half of the shares, showing strong enthusiasm for change.

What people want to improve

The most requested areas are:

  • Agriculture – 800 k ideas
  • Education – 900 k ideas
  • Rural development – 700 k ideas
Other popular themes include health, livestock, information technology, tourism, industry and security.

Top districts, bottom districts

Sambhal, Jaunpur, Bijnor, Gorakhpur and Sonbhadra are the top five contributors, while Firozabad, Mahoba, Etawah, Bulandshahr and Fatehpur have sent in fewer suggestions.

Local visionaries add detail

In Azamgarh, Ramdarsh Yadav, a government officer, called for an agro‑processing and textile hub. He suggests setting up centres for millets, pulses and oilseeds, and promoting the export of Mubarakpur silk sarees. He also pushed for a single‑window system to attract industry.

In Firozabad, Rona Sagar highlighted adventure and medical tourism. He wants a global tourism brand for Uttar Pradesh modeled on the “Incredible India” campaign, with stronger community involvement.

From Lalitpur, Raja Pratap urged farmers to adopt modern tech such as drip irrigation, crop diversification, and easier insurance coverage. He also stresses research and a boost in organic farming.

Broad community outreach

The campaign has staged thousands of meetings at different levels: around 150 municipal corporations, more than 120 town councils, over 40 district panchayats, and direct visits to 27,000 gram panchayats. This makes it one of the largest participatory development projects in the state’s history.

With input pouring in from every corner and a clear focus on agriculture, education and rural growth, Uttar Pradesh is one step closer to achieving a fully developed, prosperous state by 2047.
