Mumbai – on 11 Dec (LatestNewsX) – comedian Zakir Khan stated that the person he had named ‘Kuntal’ as the inspiration for his one‑hour special is actually a fabrication. In a recent episode of tennis star Sania Mirza’s podcast, “Serving It Up With Sania,” he clarified that no friend exists by that name; the individual behind the moniker has a different legal name and had specifically requested that Zakir keep the real name off the final show.
His special, titled “Manpasand,” presents a calm, introspective tone that blends the same observational wit he’s known for with a more emotionally honest narrative. The performance delves into how our choices shape relationships, identity, and the journey into adulthood, using a mix of Hindi‑Urdu phrasing, gentle self‑deprecation, and touching anecdotes about family expectations, romantic flops, and the small everyday victories that keep life going. Rather than the high‑energy fare of earlier specials, “Manpasand” offers a softer, more vulnerable snapshot of a man reconciling his own sense of self with society’s expectations.
During the same podcast, Zakir also talked about his favorite travel spot, remarking, “There’s no place like New York. New York is everything. There are dazzling lights everywhere. That is the city that, the city which never sleeps. Even if you go out at 4:00 am, you’ll find some people standing and clicking photos at Times Square. As an artist, the city is so attractive because you’ve seen a lot culturally.” He added, “Every film and show that you’ve consumed in Hollywood, they talk about New York so much that when you reach New York, you feel like you’ve already seen it. Secondly, the food, h, my God! If you place your finger on the globe, searching for a restaurant, you’ll find it on that Manhattan strip of New York. I would say you don’t even have to go to Queens or Jersey.”
