South African spinner Senuran Muthusamy and captain Laura Wolvaardt have been named ICC Players of the Month for October 2025. The awards followed their standout shows in Test cricket and the Women’s ODI World Cup.
Muthusamy earned the men’s honor by claiming 11 wickets in a drawn Test series against Pakistan. He was the top bowler in Lahore and even scored a career‑best 89 runs in Rawalpindi. His all‑round performance put South Africa ahead of spinners Noman Ali of Pakistan and Rashid Khan of Afghanistan.
“We’re proud to win this award,” Muthusamy said. “I’m happy to have helped my team with both ball and bat. Being part of the squad that won the ICC World Test Championship this year is a huge honor.” He thanked his teammates for their support and pledged to keep contributing in the future.
Wolvaardt won the women’s award after dazzling the world in October. She scored 470 runs during the Women’s World Cup, including three fifties and a match‑winning 169 in the semi‑final against England in Guwahati. Her big tally edged out India vice‑captain Smriti Mandhana and Australian all‑rounder Ashleigh Gardner.
“It’s an honor to win after our historic World Cup run in India,” Wolvaardt said. “I’m proud of our victories and the spirit we showed. We’ll keep striving for the ICC World Cup title and will always play to make our fans proud.”
