A large blaze broke out at 12:50 p.m. on Sunday in the 19‑storey Tricity Symphony Tower, a residential building in Kharghar, a suburb of Navi Mumbai. A short circuit in the building’s duct triggered smoke and fire that spread up to the roof, threatening the top three floors.
The Quick Action Team (QAT) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) from 102 Battalion rushed to the scene. Led by a Commandant and other officers, the CRPF team reached the 17th‑ and 18th‑floor floors and rescued seven residents – three women and four men, including children – who were unconscious and trapped in heavy smoke. The team moved everyone to a nearby hospital, where they received treatment for breathing problems. All seven are now reported to be in stable condition.
After the CRPF and the Rapid Action Force responded, the local Fire Department and Kharghar Police arrived and successfully put out the fire, preventing it from spreading further. The incident shows how quick action from police and fire services can save lives in a building fire caused by electrical faults. The fire at Tricity Symphony Tower was fully extinguished by the end of the day.
