The Jammu & Kashmir Police’s Counter‑Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing announced on Sunday that nine people were arrested during a large‑scale crackdown on online terrorism in the Valley. The operation was aimed at stopping the spread of extremist content and other hate messages on social media.
CIK said it had received credible intelligence that certain groups were glorifying terrorism and radicalising young people. Teams carried out coordinated raids at ten sites in Srinagar, Kulgam, Baramulla, Shopian and Pulwama. Officials described the search as “a robust operation that sends a clear message against extremism and cyber abuse.”
The police seized a cache of evidence, including SIM cards, phones and tablets. Forensic experts will review the material to uncover links to wider networks. The initial arrests involved nine suspects – one of them a woman – who are now in custody.
“This valley‑wide clampdown is just the beginning,” CIK added. “More raids and detentions are coming. We will keep protecting Kashmir’s youth from the influence of abroad‑linked terror handlers and uphold peace in the region.”
In a related move, police in Ramban district conducted cordon and search operations targeting local operatives who are believed to be linked with Pakistan‑backed terror outfits.
Security forces continue to target the full ecosystem of terrorism, from soldiers and sympathisers to the network that supplies them.
