The Election Commission of India says all the pieces are in place for a smooth, free and fair vote in Telangana’s Jubilee Hills Assembly seat. The by‑poll, slated for Tuesday, will let a little over 400,000 voters in Hyderabad decide who will carry on the work of the late MLA Maganti Gopinath of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
Polling readiness
- 407 polling stations will be open across 139 buildings, with an average of 986 voters each.
- 2,060 staff will work the booths, including 515 polling officers and the same number of assistant officers.
- EVMs will be set up at every station. The Commission has supplied 561 Control Units, 2,394 Ballot Units and 595 VVPATs, ensuring transparency in every vote.
- Forty engineers from the Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) will stand by to fix any technical glitches.
Voter profile
The constituency has 401,365 registered voters: 208,561 men, 192,779 women and 25 others.
- Youth: 6,859 voters aged 18‑19.
- Seniors: 2,134 voters aged 85 and older.
- 103 absentee voters (85+ and people with disabilities) received a postal ballot, 101 of whom actually used it.
Security and oversight
- The local police will deploy a security team and mobile squads to keep the polling day calm.
- 19 nodal officers and 38 sector officers will monitor the entire process, from campaigning to counting.
- A district intelligence committee, made up of police, tax, transport, and banking officials, will coordinate any emergency response.
Convenience for voters
- All polling centers will stream live on the Election Commission’s web portal so citizens can watch the proceedings.
- Mobile-phone deposit counters are being set up at every station so voters can safely store their phones while they vote.
Administrative support
- The Hyderabad and Medchal–Malkajgiri collectors have announced paid holidays for government staff on the day before the poll (November 10), election day (November 11) and the counting day (November 14).
Enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct
The Commission has taken action against 27 violations. Between October 6 and November 8, it seized Rs 3.60 crore from those breaching the Code.
With these measures in place, the Election Commission aims to deliver a transparent and voter‑friendly by‑poll for Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills residents.
