All India Majlis‑e‑Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) in Bihar has released its first list of candidates for the upcoming state assembly elections. Party chief Akhtarul Iman said the move aims to keep secular votes united against communal politics, though he noted that larger coalition partners were unwilling to cooperate.
AIMIM plans to contest seats across 15 key districts, including Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar, Araria, Gaya, Motihari, Nawada, Jamui, Bhagalpur, Siwan, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Vaishali, and Gopalganj. The party is forming a “third alliance” to strengthen its position, as it believes the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Mahagathbandhan have fallen short on cooperation.
The Bihar assembly elections will take place in two phases: November 6 and November 11, covering all 243 constituencies. Vote counting is scheduled for November 14. The primary contest will be between the incumbent NDA, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and the Mahagathbandhan headed by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav.
Tejashwi Yadav reiterated his promise to provide a government job to every household that currently lacks one. He vows that, starting November 14, unemployment in Bihar will be addressed.
The NDA’s composition includes 131 MLAs: 80 from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), 45 from Janata Dal (United), 4 from Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and two independents. Its partners also include the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.
The INDIA bloc features the RJD, Congress, the Communist Party of India (Marxist‑Leninist), Communist Party of India, and Communist Party of India (Marxist). Mukesh Sahani’s Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP) also joins the coalition.
Political strategist Prashant Kishor, founder of Jan Suraaj, is also active in shaping strategies for this election season.
With AIMIM opening a new front and seasoned leaders pushing for job security, Bihar’s voters face a dynamic and multi‑party contest that could reshape the state’s political landscape.
