In the lead‑up to the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has finalized how many seats each partner will contest. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal (United) (JD‑U) will each run in 101 seats, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will fight 29 seats, while the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) and the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) (HAM‑S) will each contest six seats.
Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) chief and Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi said he is satisfied with the seat‑share. “We have no complaints,” he told reporters. “If we get six seats, that’s the decision of the high command, and we’re content.”
The NDA deal was announced on the social media platform X by Bihar BJP in‑charge Vinod Tawde. He highlighted that the partners worked together "in a cordial atmosphere" and thanked all members for their cooperation.
Chirag Paswan, the Lok Janshakti Party chief, echoed the excitement. “Bihar is ready for an NDA government again,” he said, adding that the alliance will bring “full strength” to the state.
Bihar’s 243‑member legislative assembly will vote in two phases, on November 6 and November 11, with counting on November 14.
The NDA faces the INDIA bloc in the polls. The opposition includes the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) led by Tejashwi Yadav, the Indian National Congress, the Communist parties (CPI, CPI(ML) Liberation, CPI (M)), and the Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP) led by Mukesh Sahani. 2025 will also see political strategist Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj party enter the Bihar race.
In the current assembly, the NDA holds 131 seats (BJP 80, JD‑U 45, HAM‑S 4, plus 2 independents). The INDIA bloc holds 111 seats, with RJD at 77, Congress 19, CPI(ML) 11, and smaller parties making up the rest.
The seat‑sharing announcement follows intense talks among NDA allies after the Election Commission set the polling schedule, signalling a united front as they seek to reclaim the state government.
