Shimla, India – Himachal Pradesh BJP chief Rajiv Bindal slammed the Congress-led state government on Saturday, accusing it of burdening everyday people with taxes and fees over the past three years. At the same time, he praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s central government for delivering real relief to citizens.

Bindal pointed out that the state has slapped 10 different types of cess on the public since Congress took power. He highlighted how they’ve jacked up VAT on diesel by Rs 7.50, adding a whopping Rs 10,000 crore burden on common folks. Taxes on cement jumped from Rs 7.50 to Rs 16 per unit, water bills soared across the board, and stamp duty rates climbed too. In rural areas, households now face Rs 100 monthly water charges, electricity bills rose by 46 percent, and even hospital prescriptions come with a Rs 10 fee.

In contrast, Bindal said Modi’s team rolled out major GST reforms that saved people Rs 2 lakh crore in the long run. “The Prime Minister’s push for self-reliant India and Swadeshi is paying off big time,” he added.

To drive home the difference between BJP and Congress rule, Bindal shared impressive stats on India’s growth under Modi. Back in 2014, India had just 1,000 startups; today, that number has exploded to 160,000, with each one creating around 40 jobs. Mobile phone manufacturing tells an even bigger story – we used to import 98 percent of them, but now 98 percent, including iPhones, get made right here in India.

Defense exports have skyrocketed from $686 crore to $23,622 crore, and India’s economy has hit $7.3 trillion, landing us fourth globally. Bindal also spotlighted booming sectors like destination weddings, Indian tourism, Bharat Darshan tours, Sanskrit heritage, yoga, and astronomy. “This is all thanks to PM Modi – he turns his vision into action, and his magic keeps working for the country,” the former cabinet minister said.
