Shocking Honeytrap Assault Case in Kerala: Couple Arrested for Luring and Beating Young Men
In a disturbing incident from Pathanamthitta district in Kerala, police have arrested a couple from Charalkunnu for running a horrific honeytrap scheme. The duo lured young men into traps, assaulted them brutally, and even filmed the attacks on their phones. Authorities revealed this on Sunday, calling the videos "shocking" and deeply disturbing.
The case first surfaced when Reshmi, the wife, struck up a friendship with a 19-year-old boy from Ranni over the phone. She invited him to their home, and on September 1, her husband Jayesh picked him up from Maramon Junction. What seemed like a casual meet-up turned into a nightmare.
At their residence, the couple forced the victim to pose in a compromising position with Reshmi while Jayesh recorded it all. When the boy fought back, Jayesh threatened to kill him, tied his hands with a shawl, and held a knife to his neck. The assault didn’t stop there—Jayesh stomped on the youth’s chest and legs, then beat him with a rod that Reshmi handed over.
The torture escalated as they bound his hands with a cycle chain, hung him from a rope, and Reshmi used cutting pliers on his finger. They slapped him repeatedly, sprayed a chemical on his navel that caused swelling, and made him hand over his phone passcodes. In the end, the couple stole his two phones and Rs 19,000 from his wallet before dumping him near an auto stand—without his pants.
Doctors later found multiple bruises and injuries on the victim’s arms, chest, stomach, forehead, and legs. Too ashamed to speak up at first, the young man finally opened up to police after their suspicions grew. This honeytrap assault in Kerala has left everyone stunned.
But this wasn’t a one-off crime. Investigators uncovered that the couple targeted another victim—a young man from Alappuzha working in Bengaluru. They picked him up from Thiruvalla, beat him up, pepper-sprayed his private parts, stole his iPhone, and left him on the roadside.
Pathanamthitta Superintendent of Police V. Ajith has now formed a special team to dig deeper into these honeytrap crimes in Kerala. The couple faces charges of assault, wrongful confinement, criminal intimidation, extortion, and theft. Police warn that such scams are on the rise, urging young people to stay vigilant online. More details could emerge as the probe continues.
