New Delhi, Nov 7 – Flights at Indira Gandhi International Airport were slowed by a glitch in the air‑traffic‑control (ATC) system, pushing some departures and arrivals over 30 minutes late. A passenger on an Air India flight reported that the plane had stood on the runway for more than half an hour while technicians chased the problem.
Air India crew told travelers that operations should be back to normal soon. “We’re working hard to fix the ATC issue,” the crew said. Passengers were asked to stay calm while the system was restored.
The ATC error jammed both gates and runways, creating a ripple of delays across the airport. Authorities had just announced a return to normal service a few days earlier after a similar technical hiccup. That Wednesday, the Delhi airport tweeted that all flights were “back to normal” and urged travelers to check with airlines for any updates.
Earlier in the week, the airport noted that a handful of airlines experienced check‑in disruptions from a third‑party network problem. “We’re coordinating with all stakeholders to minimise delays and restore normal operations quickly,” the airport said. Travelers were advised to double‑check flight times and plan their check‑ins accordingly.
Air India posted on X (formerly Twitter) that a connectivity issue had impacted its check‑in system, causing a few delays, but the problem has since been resolved. Nonetheless, some flights may still run late as the situation settles.
Passengers who missed connecting flights or experienced longer waits are encouraged to contact their airlines for the latest flight information. The airport’s chief focus remains on restoring smooth operations and ensuring passengers can board on time.
