Durga Puja in Tripura has transformed from a cherished Hindu Bengali festival into a grand celebration that brings everyone together. This year, the action is centered in the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) area, where 806 vibrant pujas light up the season from September 28 to October 4.
What makes this Durga Puja in Agartala extra special are the creative themes from top clubs. Take Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Club—they’re honoring India’s brave soldiers with their “Tribute” theme. From the Kargil War to Operation Sindoor, the setup recreates the iconic Red Fort (Lal Qila) complete with dazzling lights that tell stories of sacrifice. Last year, their Burj Khalifa replica drew massive crowds, and this time promises even more excitement.
Then there’s Flowers Club, building a stunning replica of the Tirupati Temple. It’s a treat for locals who dream of visiting the famous shrine but can’t make the trip. Their Ram Temple theme from last year was a huge hit, pulling in visitors from all over.
Sanghati Club, one of Tripura’s oldest, focuses on kids this year. Their pandal highlights child development and enrichment, sending a clear message about nurturing young minds. As AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder shared, the celebrations also spotlight a drug-free Tripura and the push for cleanliness. “We’ve got a ₹40 lakh budget to make it all shine, with cultural programs showcasing India’s diverse traditions right inside the pandals,” he added.
The inauguration kicks off with big names like Chief Minister Manik Saha, MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, and Mayor Majumder. Former CM Biplab Kumar Deb and other leaders will join the festivities too.
Even remote corners of Agartala buzz with enthusiasm now, and the Chief Minister personally visits to offer anjali. Over 400 idols will immerse at Joynagar ghat, North Tripura’s biggest spot, while AMC teams handle cleanliness, traffic, and a green, pollution-free vibe.
