Gujarat’s new four‑lane road will make travel to the famed Jain pilgrimage site of Mahudi smoother and faster.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel opened the 4.45‑kilometre stretch on Sunday, turning the road that links Pilvai with Mahudi into a broad, cement‑concrete artery. The upgrade, costing 20 crore rupees, is part of a broader push to improve the state’s transport network and to ease traffic on the busy Ahmedabad‑Gandhinagar‑Vijapur corridor.
Officials say the expanded route will cut travel time and fuel costs for devotees heading to Mahudi’s temples, especially with the Diwali season and the Kali Chaudas festival drawing large crowds. The entire project was completed in just ten months, thanks to the Roads and Buildings Department’s focus on durable, monsoon‑proof concrete roads.
The opening also marked the first stage of “Vikas Saptah,” a week‑long celebration from October 7 to 15 that highlights 24 years of service and good governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Alongside the road, many other development works across Gujarat were inaugurated this week.
The ceremony saw attendance from local leaders, the MLA from Manasa, government officials, and community members, all eager to see how the new road will benefit pilgrims and commuters alike.
