Haryana Minister Sets Up Committee to Revive Ambala Cantonment Industrial Area
In a big push to get things back on track, Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij announced a five-member committee on Saturday to boost infrastructure and services in the Ambala Cantonment industrial area. This move comes as part of efforts to tackle recent challenges like flooding and disruptions in the region.
Minister Vij didn’t stop there. He ordered the quick setup of a dedicated war room right inside the industrial premises. This control center will keep a close eye on all restoration work until everything runs smoothly again. Housed in a factory unit, the war room will bring together key officials from the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC), Public Health Department, power discom, Municipal Council, and local police.
To make sure local voices are heard, the committee includes representatives from the industrial area: Subhash Dhiman, Gopi Sehgal, Kamaljit Jain, Kapil Verma, and Akhil Gupta. These members will team up with government departments to fix problems fast and keep everyone in the loop.
During his on-site visit, Minister Vij called for an all-out cleaning drive. He pushed Municipal Council teams to roll out a massive disinfection spraying campaign using full manpower and resources. "We need to act on a war footing," he said, stressing the urgency.
Water and power woes are top priorities too. Vij directed officials to restore clean drinking water supplies right away and ensure a steady electricity flow for factories. To fight waterlogging, he instructed the Public Health Department to bring in a super sucker machine for quick drainage. He even checked the machine himself during his visit and confirmed it was working perfectly before heading out.
The minister called the Ambala Cantonment industrial area the "lifeline of the entire city," pointing out how it supports thousands of jobs and livelihoods. He urged sanitation workers to cover every nook and cranny with oil spraying and lime treatment to stop waterborne diseases from spreading.
Vij also reached out to factory owners, encouraging them to allow spraying inside their units. He promised plenty of sanitation staff to help, so businesses can restart operations without any holdups.
Looking ahead, the minister tasked HSIIDC with drafting a detailed blueprint for new stormwater drainage lines. This long-term fix aims to prevent future flooding in the industrial hub. He even visited a flooded factory to check the damage firsthand.
On top of that, Vij told Ambala Deputy Commissioner Ajay Singh Tomer to step in and help industrialists with their insurance claims. This should ease some financial headaches for affected businesses.
With these steps, Haryana’s government is working hard to bring normalcy back to the vital Ambala Cantonment industrial area, ensuring it stays a strong economic driver for the region.
