Kerala Government Asks Officials to Use ‘Bahu’ Prefix for Chief Minister and Ministers as a Sign of Respect
In a move to show respect, the Kerala government has instructed its officials to add the prefix "Bahu" – a short form of "honourable" in Malayalam – before the names of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other ministers. This comes straight from a new circular issued by the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department.
The circular explains that when replying to public petitions or complaints sent to the Chief Minister or ministers, officials must address them as "Bahu, the Chief Minister" or "Bahu, the Minister" in all correspondence. It’s all about maintaining that respectful tone in official communications, especially when handling demands from everyday people in Kerala.
BJP Slams Kerala Government Over Skyrocketing Inflation
Not everyone is happy with the government’s style, though. The BJP’s Kerala unit has fired sharp criticism at the Pinarayi Vijayan-led LDF government, pointing fingers at the state’s rising prices and high inflation rates. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), BJP Keralam highlighted how Kerala has topped the charts for inflation in India for eight straight months.
"The only thing CPM has kept consistent in the last 10 years is inflation," the post read. "Kerala: 9.04 (Highest in India). National Average: 2.07. From rice to milk to vegetables, everyone is forced to pay more. And CPM shamelessly sells this suffering as the Kerala Model."
They added in another X update: "Kerala has been the state with the highest inflation in the country for the eighth month. The people of Kerala are suffering due to the mismanagement of the LDF government. While inflation is decreasing in the country under the Modi government, prices are skyrocketing only in Kerala."
This ongoing debate over Kerala’s inflation rate and price rise has put the spotlight on the state’s economic challenges, with the BJP calling out what they see as poor handling by the ruling CPM.
Kerala to Host National Workshop on AYUSH IT Solutions
On a brighter note, Kerala is gearing up for a big event in the health sector. The state will host a two-day national workshop on IT solutions for AYUSH from September 18-19 at KTDC Waterscapes in Kumarakom. Organized jointly by the Kerala Government’s Department of AYUSH and the National AYUSH Mission, the workshop aims to explore digital tools to boost traditional medicine practices like Ayurveda, Yoga, and more.
This initiative could bring fresh ideas to improve healthcare in Kerala and across India, making traditional systems more tech-savvy and accessible.
