On Sunday, the Congress revealed a star‑studded lineup for the second round of the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections, slated for November 11. The party is bringing national leaders and local heavy‑hitters together to give its campaign in the state a fresh push.
At the top of the list is Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, followed by Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. They are expected to head the main rallies and meet‑and‑greet events across the key districts.
The party also has senior figures like Ashok Gehlot, Bhupesh Baghel, Digvijaya Singh, Adhir Ranjan Choudhury and Sachin Pilot on the team. These leaders will run outreach drives in different regions of Bihar.
Other well‑known names on the roster include K.C. Venugopal, Pawan Khera, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Imran Pratapgarhi, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Tariq Anwar, Meira Kumar, Gaurav Gogoi, Ranjeet Ranjan, Jignesh Mevani, Syed Naseer Hussain, Rajesh Ranjan (Pappu Yadav) and Rajendra Pal Gautam.
Bihar’s own Congress stalwarts such as Madan Mohan Jha, Shakeel Ahmad Khan, Sukhdeo Bhagat, Rajesh Kumar Ram, Akhilesh Prasad Singh and Furqan Ansari have also been listed as key campaigners.
To reach younger voters, the Congress has added rising stars like Kanhaiya Kumar, Supriya Shrinate, Pramod Tiwari, Krishna Allavaru, Ajay Rai and Anil Jaihind. Their inclusion is meant to strengthen the party’s ground game.
The diverse mix of leaders shows Congress’s attempt to present a united and energetic front under the INDIA coalition heading into this crucial phase.
Senior party officials say the star‑campaigners will focus on jobs, inflation, farmers’ problems and women’s welfare. They will also point out what they see as failures of the current NDA government.
The first phase of the Bihar polls will see voting on November 6, while the second phase—bolstered by this star lineup—is set for November 11. Counting is scheduled for November 14, as announced by the Election Commission of India.
Congress, running as part of the Mahagathbandhan alliance, hopes to regain lost ground in Bihar as the campaign intensifies across all 243 assembly seats.
