Chandigarh, Nov 2 – Punjab’s tourism and cultural affairs minister, Tarunpreet Singh Sond, said the state will mark the 350 th anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur with grand light‑and‑sound shows in districts across Punjab. The celebrations aim to bring the ninth Sikh Guru’s story to life for newcomers and younger followers.
The developer launched the first shows at 6 p.m. on Nov 4 in four major venues: Lamini Stadium in Pathankot, Guru Gobind Singh Stadium in Jalandhar, Polo Ground in Patiala, and the Sports Stadium in Madhopur (Fatehgarh Sahib). The program will run nightly until Nov 20, with performances scheduled for all districts.
During the revues, theater technicians will use elaborate visuals and soundtracks to depict Guru Tegh Bahadur’s devotion, courage, and ultimate sacrifice in defense of faith and righteousness. “It’s a chance to teach the next generation about the Guru’s teachings,” Sond told reporters, urging families and devotees to join.
The garden‑district commemoration began on Oct 25 at the historic Gurdwara Sri Sis Ganj Sahib in New Delhi. Punjab will add four Nagar Kirtans from Nov 19 to 22, opening with a procession from Srinagar.
Sond also revealed a massive Tent City near Sri Anandpur Sahib, designed to accommodate 10,000‑12,000 guests daily. The tourism department is investing roughly ₹21.52 crore to set up three sites—Agampur, PSPCL Ground Matour, and Jhinjri—providing lodging, food, and basic amenities. The Tent City will operate from Nov 19 to 30, linking the Guru’s legacy with local culture and tourism.
These festive events highlight Punjab’s dedication to preserving Sikh heritage while inviting visitors worldwide to experience the Guru’s timeless message of faith, unity, and sacrifice.
