Madhya Pradesh farmers growing soybeans are getting a big boost from the state government. Starting next week, the Bhavantar Scheme—also known as the Price Deficiency Payment Scheme—will roll out to help ensure they get a fair deal on their crops.
Registration kicks off on October 3, and the scheme officially starts on October 24. Here’s how it works: Soybean farmers just need to register with the state, then sell their harvest in local mandis like they always do. If the market price falls below the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 5,328 per quintal, the government steps in and pays the difference straight to their accounts. No more worrying about low prices eating into profits.
The scheme also covers losses from crop damage, like the yellow mosaic virus that’s been hitting soybean fields hard. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav made it clear the government has farmers’ backs. In a post on X, he said the state is committed to soybean farmer welfare and won’t let anyone suffer losses from the virus or natural disasters.
“We ensure no farmer faces hardship,” Yadav added. “If yellow mosaic or any other issue damages crops, we’ll compensate them fully. Register your soybean crop with us, sell in the mandis, and if there’s a gap below the MSP, we’ll deposit the difference directly.”
This move highlights Madhya Pradesh’s ongoing push for farmer support, especially for soybean producers who make up a key part of the state’s agriculture scene. With the Bhavantar Scheme in place, more farmers can focus on their fields without the stress of unpredictable prices.
