The 27th Salvation Army Youth Congress is underway in Darlawn, a town in Mizoram, India. Thousands of young people from across the Northeast are gathering for a three‑day religious event that starts on Friday, October 3 and ends Sunday, October 5.

Chief Secretary Lt. Col. Masilamani Stalin opened the congress on Friday evening with a Welcome Meeting. He dedicated the gathering to God and gave the keynote address on the theme “Transformed into Christ‑likeness – in knowing Him.” The theme comes from 2 Corinthians 3:18, a call for Christians to grow and reflect Christ’s character.

Saturday continued with morning and afternoon Praise Meetings. In the morning, Lt. Col. Vanlaltluanga, the Secretary for Personnel Administration, spoke about being “Transformed into Christ‑likeness – in all things.” The afternoon session was led by Lt. Col. Vanlalsawmthanga, Secretary for Business Administration, who urged delegates to stay faithful to God’s promises. The evening’s program will feature a Prayer Meeting and a Variety Program, with Territorial Youth Secretary Major Richard Vanlalnghaka as the speaker.

Organizers say about 4,700 young people have already registered for the congress. Even with rough roads and travel delays across the region, delegates keep arriving, demonstrating the event’s strong pull.

The congress will finish with a final Salvation Meeting on Sunday night. In addition to talks, the day‑long program includes a band and choir, live music, dramas, and other performances—all designed to reinforce the transformation theme.

The Salvation Army, founded in London in 1865 by William and Catherine Booth, is a global Protestant Christian organization. It runs social services such as feeding the homeless, shelter, vocational training, and disaster relief. The youth congress in Darlawn showcases both spiritual growth and the church’s commitment to practical humanitarian work.
