Nepal unrest: Rajasthan CM expresses concern over safety of Indians stranded at Kathmandu Airport

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma shared his deep concern on Wednesday for Indian citizens, especially folks from the desert state, stuck at Kathmandu Airport due to the ongoing unrest in Nepal. The violence has left many worried, and the CM called it “heart-wrenching.”
In a post on social media platform X, CM Sharma said the Rajasthan government is keeping a close eye on the Nepal situation. “We’re really concerned about the safety of our Rajasthani citizens trapped there,” he wrote. He mentioned reaching out to the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu to get the latest updates.
The Chief Minister urged all Rajasthanis living or traveling in Nepal to stay in touch with the Indian Embassy and follow the Central government’s advisory strictly. He also assured everyone that the Indian government stands fully committed to protecting citizens and bringing them back safely.
Reports say around 200 passengers from Jaipur and nearby areas are stranded at Kathmandu Airport. This group left Jaipur on August 28 for a three-Dham pilgrimage. They visited the famous Pashupatinath temple and arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday, but violent protests, a curfew, and transport disruptions have kept them from heading home.
Local residents like Shambhudayal Maharshi and Banshidhar Jangid from Sinwar village near Sirsi Road in Jaipur shared their ordeal. They contacted former councillor Ganpat Lal Yadav to seek help. The passengers told him that traffic jams, unavailable taxis, and halted flights have left them stuck at the airport.
Families back home are anxious and worried about their loved ones’ safety. They’ve made urgent appeals to the Indian government for quick assistance and evacuation.
As the Nepal unrest worsens, officials are focusing on diplomatic talks and rescue plans to bring back the stranded Rajasthanis, including the big group from Jaipur, without any harm. The Indian Embassy continues to monitor the situation closely to ensure a safe return for all.
