Bhubaneswar – The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has asked the Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to act on a complaint about BJP posters that are still on public property in Nuapada. The BJD said the Bharatiya Janata Party is violating the model code of conduct, and the CEO must remove the displays from electricity poles, school walls and other government areas.
A senior BJD delegation, led by Rajya Sabha MP Sulata Deo and party leader Lenin Mohanty, went to the CEO’s office to hand over a written petition. They argued that despite repeated requests to the district collector, the district superintendent of police and the CEO, the BJP banners remain on public utilities.
According to the BJD, officials in the district are biased after Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited Nuapada and met only with government staff. The party claims that the collector, Madhusudan Dash, and the superintendent, Amritpal Singh, now appear to be working for the BJP instead of watching election rules.
The BJD wants the CEO to order the immediate removal of all BJP posters from government property in Nuapada. It also urges the CEO to enforce neutrality from local officials and to punish anyone who helps BJP leaders during the campaign.
This action comes ahead of the upcoming elections in Odisha, where the BJD is demanding a fair and transparent process. The CEO’s response will determine whether the campaign remains free from biased support on public property.
