Congress leader Pawan Khera has strongly defended an AI-generated video shared by the Bihar Congress unit, which features a character looking like Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacting with his late mother. The video, which went viral recently, shows PM Modi dreaming about his mother Heeraben Modi scolding him over his political decisions. Khera dismissed claims of disrespect, saying the BJP is just stirring up unnecessary drama to gain sympathy.
Speaking to in New Delhi, Khera questioned the backlash: “Where’s the disrespect to his late mother? Point out one word or gesture that shows it. Parents have a duty to guide their kids, right? She’s just advising her son. If he feels it’s disrespectful, that’s his problem, not ours. Why does the BJP blow everything out of proportion to create fake sympathy?”
He added that people aren’t buying this sympathy game anymore. “PM Modi can’t play ‘touch me not’ politics. He’s in the game, so he has to handle opposition jabs—even if this isn’t humor, it’s just some honest advice,” Khera said.
This isn’t the first time the Congress has faced heat over such incidents. Earlier, during a Congress-led Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar’s Darbhanga, an unidentified person climbed the stage and abused PM Modi and his mother, drawing sharp criticism.
Shifting focus to PM Modi’s upcoming visit, Khera slammed the timing of the Prime Minister’s trip to Manipur. The state has been gripped by ethnic violence for over 864 days, and Khera called the visit “too little, too late.” He mocked the planned cultural performances, saying locals are too devastated to join in. “After 864 days, he shows up for just three hours? And the highlight is a dance show? People meant to perform say they can’t do it with tears in their eyes. Angry folks are even tearing down welcome hoardings—they’re sad, furious, and restless,” Khera remarked.
The Prime Minister’s Office announced that PM Modi will tour five states—Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar—from September 13 to 15. He’ll kick off projects worth a massive Rs 71,850 crore during the visit.
In Mizoram, PM Modi lands in Aizawl around 10 AM on Saturday to lay foundation stones and inaugurate development projects valued at over Rs 9,000 crore. He’ll also speak at a public event there.
For Manipur, the itinerary includes a stop in Churachandpur at 12:30 PM to launch projects worth more than Rs 7,300 crore and address the crowd. Later, at 2:30 PM in Imphal, he’ll inaugurate initiatives totaling over Rs 1,200 crore and interact with locals. These moves aim to boost infrastructure and growth in the Northeast amid ongoing tensions.
