Congress MP Praniti Shinde didn’t hold back on Tuesday as she slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Maharashtra government. Speaking to reporters in her Solapur Lok Sabha constituency after meeting Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Shinde called the PM’s birthday a “black day” for the opposition. She claimed India is facing an “undeclared Emergency,” where opposition leaders can’t speak freely, votes get stolen, and the press struggles for independence.
“The opposition isn’t getting a chance to voice their concerns,” Shinde said. “Votes are being manipulated, and the media has turned into ‘Godi Media’—just echoing the government’s line. Farmers are out on the streets protesting, but no one hears them.” Her sharp words on opposition suppression and media freedom are sparking debates across the country, especially amid ongoing political tensions.
Shinde also turned her focus to the heavy rains that wrecked havoc in Solapur district. Crops like soybean have taken a massive hit, and she demanded quick relief for affected farmers. “The government needs to step up right now and provide compensation,” she urged, highlighting the urgent need for farmer relief in Maharashtra amid flood damage.
She didn’t spare the Solapur Municipal Corporation either, accusing it of corruption and botching drainage projects. “They got crores of rupees, but water still flooded homes. And municipal elections haven’t happened in four years—this is killing democracy,” Shinde charged. Her call for better civic governance and anti-corruption measures resonates with locals dealing with poor infrastructure.
On the recent India-Pakistan cricket match, Shinde questioned the timing. With Operation Sindoor targeting terror groups still underway, she said playing the game sends the wrong signal. “We’re fighting Pakistan on one front, yet we play cricket with them? Our players felt pressured not to even shake hands—why hold the match at all? It hurts our armed forces’ morale,” she remarked. She blasted the BCCI for prioritizing commercial interests over national sentiment in this India-Pakistan cricket controversy.
Finally, Shinde hit out at the government’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, calling it a tool for vote theft. “This is happening everywhere in India. In Bihar, we pushed for a Parliament discussion, but the government dodged it. The whole system is breaking down,” she alleged. Her concerns about electoral manipulation and voter list issues are drawing attention as elections loom in various states.
