In Patna, Bihar, the Congress party’s top leaders gathered Wednesday for a key meeting, buzzing with talk of change and a potential revolution in the state. Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring kicked things off by warning that Bihar is ripe for big shifts, especially after Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi spotlighted widespread vote theft issues across India.
Speaking to reporters, Warring pointed fingers at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of undermining democracy. “Rahul Gandhi brought this vote theft problem to light with solid proof,” he said. “The BJP has basically killed democracy—now it’s up to Bihar’s people to decide.”
Warring drew inspiration from his visit to Patna Sahib, the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, ahead of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) session at the historic Sadaqat Ashram. “The whole party is here to plan and make new history,” he added. He highlighted Bihar’s close ties with Punjab, calling locals “our brothers” who often migrate for work. “If Nitish Kumar had focused on real development here, people wouldn’t have to leave their homes,” Warring noted, tying it to frustrations building ahead of the Bihar assembly elections.
The CWC meeting, a rare event in Bihar after years away, draws heavy hitters like Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, Pawan Khera, former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, and Bihar Congress president Rajesh Ram. It sets the stage for the polls expected in October-November 2025.
Pawan Khera echoed the urgency, telling that “historic decisions” will emerge to protect democracy. “This is a landmark spot from India’s independence struggle,” he said of Sadaqat Ashram. “The message from here will rally everyone against threats to our votes—thieves are endangering every citizen.”
Senior leader Salman Khurshid piled on, stressing that Bihar desperately needs a government shake-up. “Rahul Gandhi and the team have pushed hard for change—it’s obvious Bihar wants it,” he told reporters.
All this unfolds against Rahul Gandhi’s recent allegations of vote manipulation, fueling national debates on fair elections as Congress ramps up for the Bihar battle.
