Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Thanks Centre for Rs 803 Crore Boost to City Roads

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has big news for the city’s commuters and residents. On Thursday, she announced that the Central Government approved Rs 803 crore to upgrade Delhi’s road infrastructure. Gupta expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for this major funding.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Gupta wrote, "On behalf of everyone in the capital, a big thank you from the bottom of our hearts to PM @narendramodi ji and @nitin_gadkari ji for approving this historic Rs 803 crore for Delhi road development." She added that this move will strengthen road connectivity and give a fresh push to the overall growth of Delhi as a modern capital.

Gupta highlighted how the "double-engine government" – a nod to the combined efforts of the central and state governments – is driving Delhi towards progress. "Under PM Modi’s guidance, this funding will make Delhi more prosperous, convenient, and advanced," she said. The initiative focuses on improving roads in Delhi, tackling traffic woes, and enhancing urban development.

This comes on the heels of a key review meeting that Gupta chaired earlier at the Delhi Secretariat. The discussion centered on development projects in the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency. She appointed a Cabinet Minister as the in-charge for the area to keep things moving smoothly.

The Minister-in-Charge will meet regularly with local leaders, track ongoing works, and fix public complaints quickly. To speed up progress, responsibilities will now be divided constituency-wise, ensuring local issues like road repairs and sewer fixes get priority attention.

The meeting saw attendance from Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal, MLAs, councillors, and top officials from relevant departments. Elected representatives shared ground-level problems, such as trimming overhanging trees, revamping parks, fixing roads and sewers, and installing or repairing streetlights across Delhi areas.

Gupta didn’t hold back – she directed officials to start all projects right away and finish them on time. She stressed teamwork between MPs, MLAs, and councillors to make sure everything runs efficiently. "We must prioritize what citizens need most and serve the public interest first," she emphasized.

This Rs 803 crore road development funding is a game-changer for Delhi infrastructure. It promises smoother commutes, better connectivity, and faster urban growth, aligning with the government’s vision for a world-class capital. As Delhi pushes ahead with these upgrades, residents can look forward to tangible improvements in their daily lives.
