Congress leader Sachin Pilot criticizes the government and Election Commission over election irregularities
In Rajasthan, Congress leader Sachin Pilot voiced strong concerns about the integrity of the electoral process. Speaking from his village Mohangarh in Jaisalmer district, Pilot said that “vote theft will not be tolerated at any cost.” He reiterated that the Congress is thoroughly reviewing each constituency to uncover any unfair practices in the elections.
Pilot criticized the Election Commission of India for not acting decisively. He said, “It’s like going to a police station to file a complaint, but the officer demands an affidavit first. That’s how the Election Commission seems to be functioning now.” He accused the Election Commission of siding with the ruling party instead of addressing public doubts.
The former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister pointed out the narrow victory in Jaipur Rural during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. BJP’s Rao Rajendra Singh won by just 1,615 votes over Congress candidate Anil Chopra. East votes were 6,17,877 for BJP and 6,16,262 for Congress. Pilot highlighted that there were allegations of irregularities even then, and now more issues are coming up.
Sachin Pilot emphasized that this isn’t about winning or losing; it’s about protecting democracy. He reminded everyone how, in the past, officials traveled to remote areas to ensure every vote was cast. Today, he said, votes seem to be manipulated, and that calls for a thorough investigation.
The Congress leader also mentioned that under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, the party will continue to raise concerns about vote theft across India. He said citizens are increasingly supporting the push for fair and transparent elections. Pilot asserted that safeguarding electoral integrity is a top priority for the Congress.
