Tripura is making big moves to boost sports and culture, according to Chief Minister Manik Saha. He believes that sports play a key role in creating a healthy, lively society. The state government is putting a strong focus on improving sports infrastructure to help talented players grow.

Recently, Tripura hosted the Yonex Sunrise North East Zone Badminton Championship 2025 at the Netaji Subhas Regional Coaching Centre Indoor Hall in Agartala. The event, which runs until September 7, brought together over 200 players and officials from Tripura and other Northeastern states. The Chief Minister called this a historic day for Tripura, highlighting how sports can unite people and strengthen community bonds.

Chief Minister Saha also emphasized the importance of fitness, saying that staying active improves mental health too. He shared that sports help children develop discipline, perseverance, responsibility, and patriotism. When young people start playing sports early, they grow into confident and cheerful individuals.

Saha praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts to promote sports through programs like Khelo India. Over the past 6-7 years, Tripura has seen a big boost in sports facilities, thanks to these initiatives. The state has built eight synthetic turf football fields, with more under construction, along with a synthetic hockey field, a swimming pool, and two athletic tracks in Panisagar and Badharghat.

Looking ahead, Saha announced plans to develop a large sports complex in Bholagiri, Agartala. This new facility will include a gallery, a world-class swimming pool, a natural football ground, and a multi-purpose sports hall—giving local athletes a top-notch place to train and compete.

With these projects, Tripura is really stepping up its sports scene, encouraging young talent, and promoting a healthier, more active lifestyle for all.
