Delhi Police Busts ISIS-Linked Terror Module: Latest Arrest in Capital
Delhi Police’s Special Cell has nabbed another suspected ISIS operative right in the heart of the national capital. Officials shared this update on Thursday, highlighting their ongoing crackdown on terror networks.
So far, the team has arrested five such suspects from various states, showing a coordinated effort to dismantle these groups. In the latest bust, they recovered sodium bicarbonate—often used to make improvised explosive devices (IEDs)—along with a box full of electronic goodies like circuits, strip wires, diodes, a motherboard, and even respiratory masks from the suspect.
This arrest comes hot on the heels of a big breakthrough on Wednesday. Delhi Police, teaming up with central intelligence agencies, uncovered a suspected ISIS-inspired terror module in Delhi. They picked up at least two key suspects in early morning raids.
The first catch happened in South Delhi, where the accused goes by the name Aftab. The operation was spearheaded by Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Kushwaha. From there, the action spread to other states.
In a joint move, Delhi Police’s Special Cell and Jharkhand’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) zeroed in on Ashar Danish, another suspected ISIS-linked operative, in Ranchi’s Lower Bazaar area. Hailing from Petarwar in Bokaro district, Danish had been on security agencies’ watchlist for ages.
Acting on solid intelligence tips, the team raided Tabarak Lodge in Islamnagar, where Danish was holed up. They seized weapons, chemicals that could be used for explosives, and a haul of electronic devices like laptops and mobile phones. Everything’s now headed for forensic and technical checks to uncover terror links and digital trails.
Early probes point to Danish gearing up for a major terror plot. His every move was under the scanner due to an existing case against him in Delhi. Post-arrest, Delhi Police plans to bring him to the capital for deeper questioning.
The raids didn’t end there. The joint team also hit Palamu district in Jharkhand, detaining yet another suspect for grilling. Officials say this operation shines a light on how terror outfits are eyeing Jharkhand as a safe hideout.
Right now, the ATS and Delhi Police are digging into Danish’s network, his possible handlers, and any ties to the other arrested suspects. Interrogating him could unlock vital clues about sleeper cells and the bigger ISIS terror network lurking in the region.
This series of arrests underscores the relentless fight against ISIS-inspired terror modules in India, with security forces staying one step ahead.
