In New Delhi today, officials said police in Faridabad have seized a huge stockpile of explosives and weapons just weeks after two doctors from Kashmir were arrested for links to a banned militant group.
Police in Haryana and the Jammu & Kashmir force recovered about 300 kg of explosives, 20 timers, a battery‑powered timer, an assault rifle, 83 live rounds, a pistol and two magazines from a storage site in Faridabad. The devices were found during a joint raid that followed the arrest of Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather, a Kashmiri doctor who was detained in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly promoting the banned group Jaish‑e‑Mohammed in Srinagar. Another doctor, Mujammil from Pulwama, was also taken into custody in the Faridabad operation.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh praised the prompt action, saying it showed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership had kept security forces ready. “We thank the government for acting in time and catching this suspect. The person seized appears to be part of a religious terror plot with enough explosives to shake Faridabad and Delhi,” he said. Singh warned that the incident should remind politicians that terrorism does not have a single religion. He implied that political leaders who overlook such threats risk being left silent because of their voter base.
Uttar Pradesh minister Anil Rajbhar echoed Singh’s view. “Offering protection to those who can manipulate votes only feeds extremists,” he said. “In contrast, the government’s decisive steps aim to wipe terrorism out of our soil.”
Police confirmed that while the seized material does not include RDX, it still represents a serious threat. Faridabad Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta said the operation was still in progress and that investigators are working to trace the source and intended use of the explosives.
The incident comes at a time when India is tightening its anti‑terror laws and scrutiny is increasing over the handling of extremist propaganda. The authorities emphasize that the findings are part of a larger effort to dismantle an emerging terror network across the region.
