Uttar Pradesh Launches ‘Seva Parv’ with Massive Tree Plantation Drive
The Uttar Pradesh government is joining the nationwide celebrations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday by kicking off a special ‘Seva Parv’ from September 17 to October 2. This 15-day event, inspired by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ‘Sewa Pakhwada’, focuses on service to the environment. The big highlight? Planting a whopping 15 lakh saplings across the state to boost greenery and fight climate change.
On the very first day, all 34 Nagar Vans in Uttar Pradesh will get into action, planting at least 100 saplings each. This tree plantation drive isn’t happening alone—it’s part of a larger push for environmental awareness. Expect campaigns on rainwater harvesting, water conservation, and protecting natural resources. Divisional Forest Officers will lead the efforts as nodal officers in every district.
Principal Secretary of Forest and Environment, Anil Kumar, shared that all 75 districts are excited to join in. "Everyone wants to make this a success," he said. They’ve already picked the right sapling species for the job, and teams will upload photos and data from plantation sites on the Meri Life portal to track progress.
To keep things smooth, the District Plantation Committee will team up with other departments. Their main goal? Ensuring these new saplings get proper care and protection so they grow strong.
The launch day will be packed with activity. Besides the Nagar Van plantings, cleanliness drives will sweep through government offices, forest depots, zoos, and safaris. There’s even a strong push to ban single-use plastic in these spots. Bird sanctuaries will host cleaning campaigns too, paired with workshops on nursery plans in every division.
At the district level, you’ll find engaging talks on "Viksit Bharat" and "Atmanirbhar Bharat". These discussions will cover key topics like forest and wildlife conservation, promoting greenery, and preserving biodiversity. The forest department is also gearing up for local fairs and exhibitions to spread the message far and wide.
This ‘Seva Parv’ initiative shows Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to a greener future, blending community service with real environmental action. If you’re in UP, keep an eye out—these drives could be happening right in your backyard!
