Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam kicked off his India visit with a heartfelt spiritual journey, starting with prayers at the iconic Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya on September 12. He wasn’t alone—his wife, Veena Ramgoolam, and a 30-member delegation joined him for the special occasion.

This visit made him the second world leader, after Bhutan’s Prime Minister, to offer prayers to Ram Lalla at the magnificent temple. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath rolled out the red carpet, greeting the couple with flowers, a souvenir, and a vibrant welcome full of mantra chants, Kalash-Aarti, drums, and conch shells. The air buzzed with devotion as they performed aarti and spent about 30 minutes in prayer. They even took a close look at the ongoing temple construction, highlighting the site’s growing grandeur.

Ramgoolam’s spiritual tour didn’t stop there. Last week, he visited the sacred Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) shared stunning photos on X, with spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noting how the trip underscores the deep cultural and civilizational ties between India and Mauritius.

On September 11, the Mauritius PM soaked in the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti along Varanasi’s ghats, a highlight of his eight-day India trip. He also held key talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi that day, discussing ways to boost bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

Fast-forward to Monday, September 15, and Ramgoolam continued his devotional streak by offering prayers at the famous Tirumala Temple in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, alongside his wife. The MEA posted pictures of the visit in the evening, capturing the warm airport welcome he received earlier that day. It was a perfect nod to the strong India-Mauritius partnership, built on shared spiritual and cultural roots.

These moments show how faith and friendship bridge continents, drawing leaders closer through India’s timeless temples and traditions.
