PM Modi to inaugurate World Food India 2025 today, showcasing India as ‘global food hub’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicks off World Food India 2025 on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. in New Delhi, spotlighting India’s rise as a global food hub for processing and supply. This massive event promises to draw crowds from across the food industry, aiming to connect farmers, businesses, and innovators like never before.

Organizers call this the biggest edition yet, with more than 90 countries joining in, over 2,000 exhibitors setting up shop, and tens of thousands of stakeholders buzzing from farm to fork. Expect top government officials, investors, business leaders, and experts to mingle and share ideas on everything from food production to retail.

The lineup includes hands-on sectoral exhibitions that showcase cutting-edge innovations in food processing, packaging, machinery, cold chain logistics, and related fields. You’ll find plenty of B2B and B2G networking sessions to spark new partnerships and deals that could transform India’s food sector.

To keep things lively, the event features tasty culinary experiences and chef competitions that celebrate India’s rich food heritage while exploring sustainable and forward-thinking global trends. It’s a great way to taste the future of food.

Running alongside WFI 2025 are two key international gatherings: the 3rd Global Food Regulators Summit, hosted by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), and the 24th India International Seafood Show (IISS), put on by the Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI). These focus on tightening global food safety standards and ramping up India’s seafood exports to boost the economy.

WFI 2025 ties directly into India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, pushing for a developed and competitive nation. It brings together technology, investment, and fresh ideas to lift farmer incomes, cut post-harvest losses, generate jobs in smaller cities, and drive rural growth.

Built on five core pillars—sustainability, infrastructure, entrepreneurship, global leadership, and innovation—the event highlights climate-smart technologies, nutrition-packed products, advanced food-tech solutions, and worldwide connections. It also supports small businesses, skill-building programs, and the Make in India push.

New Zealand and Saudi Arabia step up as Partner Countries, while Japan, the UAE, Vietnam, and Russia join as Focus Countries. Their involvement should deepen bilateral ties, swap expertise, and open doors for more trade and investment in the food industry, according to officials.
