PM Modi to address mega rally in Bihar’s Bettiah today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will speak to a huge crowd in Banaras‑style fanfare this Saturday in Kudiya Kothi Maidan, Chanpatia, a town in West Champaran, Bihar. The rally is part of the BJP’s push for the second‑phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, which will be held on November 11.

Police and special forces have set up multiple security layers around the stage to keep the event safe. The PM’s message is expected to attract thousands of voters and local supporters from all the West and East Champaran constituencies.

Before the visit, local BJP leaders handed a letter to the Prime Minister’s Office asking the government to reopen the Chanpatia sugar mill, which has been closed for years. Residents see the reopening as a key move that could bring new jobs and lift the local economy.

The visit has become a turning point in the BJP’s north‑Bihar campaign. A strong presence in the region could help the party consolidate its base ahead of the polls. The PM’s speeches often hit closely at political rivals. In his previous rally in Aurangabad, Modi criticised the RJD‑Congress alliance, accusing them of fostering a “culture of fear and violence” among the youth. He also pointed out a controversial statement made by a Mahagathbandhan supporter who claimed he would carry a pistol if Tejashwi Yadav’s government came to power.

Modi added that the “Jungle Raj” of Bihar has the tools needed to create a climate of fear, extortion and kidnapping. He urged voters that, if the RJD‑Congress alliance returned to power, the same problems could recur. He recalled how, during the earlier RJD‑Congress rule, Naxalism spiked and people feared traveling at night. Modi said the situation began to change after the NDA won the 2005 election and Nitish Kumar became Chief Minister.

He further reminded listeners that from 2005 to 2014, RJD and Congress governments at the centre blocked Bihar’s progress. After the 2014 election, the BJP‑led central government “boosted development by giving three times more money to Bihar,” he claimed.

The rally will also focus on local concerns such as the sugar mill and job creation, giving Modi a chance to show how the BJP plans to improve life for ordinary citizens in Bihar.
