Thailand women make big gains in T20I rankings after Emerging Nations Trophy win

Dubai – 2 Dec ( LatestNewsX ) – The ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy spotlighted several Thai cricketers, and the new ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings reflect their impact. On the final day, Thailand secured the tournament’s maiden title on home soil, with young spinner Thipatcha Putthawong earning the “Bowler of the Tournament” honour. She claimed 15 wickets at an average of 5.33 across seven matches, earning a jump of 13 places to 21st in the latest T20I bowling rankings.
Teammate Suleeporn Laomi, also a spinner, took 12 wickets, moving up ten spots to rank 37th overall. Meanwhile, Scotland’s Olivia Bell rose 17 positions, tying for 29th after taking eight wickets in the event, including a stunning five‑for in the final against Thailand.
The T20I batting list tells a similar story. Thailand’s seasoned right‑hander Natthakan Chantham amassed 160 runs, making her the fifth‑highest scorer overall and climbing one spot to 33rd in the latest rankings.
From the UAE, Theertha Satish gained four places to 37th, while Esha Oza improved eight spots to 38th. Scotland’s stand‑in captain Sarah Bryce earned a five‑place gain, reaching 39th, thanks to her consistent performance throughout the competition.
Oza also took the “Player of the Tournament” award in Thailand, scoring 187 runs and claiming seven wickets. The 27‑year‑old advanced nine places in the all‑rounder rankings, now 15th overall.
During the post‑event awards ceremony, Scotland’s Darcey Carter was named “Batter of the Tournament” with 248 runs, while Thipatcha Putthawong once again came out on top as “Bowler of the Tournament” with 15 wickets.
